Recycled material thick rug pad with a vapor barrier film on one side

This is a heavy roll of post industrial recycled material rug padding with a vapor shield on one side. It is made by Quickwalk MP Products and is 7/16″ thick and 30″ by 72″ with a 8 pound density that is 180 square feet in size. The rug pad has a good film on one side to either prevent liquids from above OR water vapor from below if reversed and used under a rug on a below grade floor. The rug pad can be cut to size with good scissors and provides a good under foot feel with no obvious odor. The maker claims the pad will not break down over time as some synthetic material pads do. I am happy with the density and quality of this rug pad, and the protective film on one side, and would recommend it.

Good product in the right application

I should have read all the questions and answers about this before I ordered it. I am using it under rugs rather than carpet as you will see in photos. According to the manufacturer it will leave a residue on a finished floor. They have another product for use under rugs. The reason I thought this would work is that it is a felt material and this is what is recommended for use under rugs and over vinyl floors. The product is easy enough to cut with a sharp box knife. The vapor barrier seems like a plus although it may not be necessary with vinyl flooring that does not absorb water. Overall, I am pleased with the product and time will tell if I have to replace it because of some residue leaching out of the padding. That would be whatever they use to bond the recycled fibers or at least that’s my guess.

Well Named

A carpet pad is a blessing in those situations where one can hear all the movement made in an upstairs room. This density pad with film is 7/16 inches thick and eight pounds. It is easy to install. The poly film barrier helps protect from moisture and the pad resists crushing. It is supposed to not dry, crumble, or deteriorate and is mold, mildew, and flame resistant. The roll is 30 inches by 72 inches. It was the right size for my upstairs room and the title QuietWalk is working.
