SoundStepXL is a crosslink flooring underlayment that is one of the most efficient and affordable flooring underlayments available. Boasting high acoustical scores and better lifetime support of the tongue and groove system than traditional basic foam flooring underlayments.

Underlayment is a necessary component of any laminate flooring or floating-engineered hardwood installation. This underlayment is suitable for a wide range of flooring including laminate, bamboo, and soild wood. Hides minor imperfections in the sub-floor, provides a soft cushioned step, and absorbs sound when walking on the floor. SoundStepXL is a premium polyethylene foam underlayment choice allowing firm support for multiple types of flooring with good acoustic benefits. Built with sound reduction and moisture dissipation in mind. The standard vapor barrier is specially designed for optimal bond with adhesives for easy installation.

SoundStep XL is only approved for hardwood and laminate flooring. We recommend our QuietWalk LV or SoundStep LV products for luxury vinyl plank flooring.

SoundStep XL is intended for use as an underlayment installed between the subfloor and floor covering. We have no testing data to support or disprove its effectiveness in any other application.

Laid this down under an engineered hardwood floor in what is a converted attic. Very quiet, almost soundproof attic bedroom now. Very easy installation. The only thing I didn’t like is that the tape that connects each piece is continuous and when trying to get the tape to lay smooth is almost impossible. It would be better if the tape was cut into small sections, say a foot or so. I actually did this myself after the first piece, but it would be nice if it came from the factory that way. But this in no way affected the use or function of the underlayment. I would recommend this to anyone
