QuietWalk Plus Underlayment Installation Video for Float, Glue and Nail-Down Flooring Applications.

QuietWalk Plus Underlayment is designed for use with most floor products and is flexible, easy to install and features an enhanced vapor barrier that is malleable and allows adhesives to adhere to it. It is suitable for use over most types of industry approved sub floors (plywood, concrete, OSB flooring, etc.). This a very simple installation video illustrating the 3 application installations: FLOAT, GLUE, & NAIL. Consult with the flooring manufacturer for specific recommendations and requirements for your installation.

For installation of click together, edge-glue floating engineered wood, click bamboo, laminate (including those with attached cushions)

Be sure the sub floor surface is clean and dry.

Roll the QuietWalk Plus Underlayment out with overlap edge facing your starting wall and cut off the extending flap and ensure the vapor barrier film is facing up, and trim if necessary, to fit the perimeter of room using a sharp utility knife maintaining a ½”-3/4” gap at perimeter.

Seams need to be butted together flush, do not overlap the pad. Roll out next row in same manner butting underlayment close to first row.

Remove the tape strip and secure the overlapping moisture barrier film. Seal seams with duct tape or a quality strapping tape when cutting around obstacles or when end of roll seams are butted together.

Install flooring according to the flooring manufacturer’s installation instructions.

All sub-floor assemblies should be tested for moisture before installing your flooring products. All subfloors should maintain proper flatness before installation. Please read the complete QuietWalk Plus Installation Guide before installation to ensure your subfloor meets moisture and preparation specifications before using this product.

For Mechanically Fastened Hard Wood materials, including both Solid Wood, Bamboo, and Engineered Wood Flooring products need to be a minimum of 3/8” thickness in nail down applications over QuietWalk Plus Underlayment:

  • Ensure the subfloor surface is dry and clean of any debris.
  • Roll the QuietWalk Plus Underlayment out with the overlap edge facing your starting wall and cut off the extending flap and ensure the vapor barrier film is facing up, and trim if necessary, to fit the perimeter of room using a sharp utility knife maintaining a 1/4” gap at the perimeter.
  • Roll out next row in same manner butting underlayment close to first row. The seams should be butted together leaving no gaps or overlaps.
  • Remove the tape strip and secure the overlapping moisture barrier film. When cutting around obstacles or when end of roll seams are butted together tape seams with quality duct tape or moisture seam tape.
  • Install flooring according to the flooring manufacturer’s installation Instructions.

Glue Down Flooring:

  • Surface must be clean, dry, and free of contaminants and sealers. Ensure to properly prepare concrete subfloors according to the wood floor manufacturer’s recommendations.
  • Roll the QuietWalk Plus Underlayment out with overlap edge facing your starting wall and cut off the extending flap and ensure the vapor barrier film is facing up, and trim if necessary, to fit the perimeter of room using a sharp utility knife maintaining a ¼” gap at the perimeter. Dry fit the lengths of underlayment first and Roll out next row in same manner butting underlayment close to first row. The seams should be butted together leaving no gaps or overlaps.
  • Cut the flap off and remove the self-seal tape on each row for this glue down application.
  • Due to the various subfloors in structures, please consult with the flooring manufacturer for adhesive specifications and approved subfloor recommendations.
  • Only use manufactured recommended adhesive types for adhesion of this underlayment to substrate and flooring product to the underlayment.

Using the recommended adhesive, adhere the underlayment to the subfloor. Ensure to use the proper sized trowel for the type of subfloor you have. For the best results, do not mix adhesive products. Use moisture barriers and adhesives from the same manufacturer. For a porous subfloor use a 1/8” x 1/8” x 1/8” square notch trowel, and for a non-porous subfloor use a 3/32″ x 3/32″ x 3/32″ V notch trowel. Then lay the pre-sized underlayment pieces into the adhesive and hand smooth over the underlayment. Be sure to use a 75 or 100 lb. roller to secure the underlayment to the substrate prior to installing the finished flooring.
Finally, Install the flooring with recommended adhesives and techniques given from the flooring manufacture over top of QuietWalk Plus’s vapor barrier which is now facing up.
