QuietWarmth 2in1 Installation & Benefits Video

The versatile QuietWarmth 2-in-1 radiant heat film is a great way to save money and reduce waste when heating your floating floors. This is due to factory wiring at both ends of the mat, which easily turns QuietWarmth 2-in-1 into two custom heating mats that conform to your project’s space after being cut to size. This video is an illustration on how to plan, cut and install the lead wires from each mat to the thermostat, and heat two areas for less!

QuietWarmth 2-in-1 mats come in both 120 or 240 volt. Use the right voltage mat based on how you plan your dedicated circuit from the main electrical box. Please read the entire installation guide prior to install and follow all local and national codes. A licensed electrician can help with all of the electrical wiring illustrated.

To begin planning, choose the area you want heated then decide where your thermostat will be. This will help you to determine which QuietWarmth 2-in-1 mat will be your best option and what size to cut it to. In this example we have a bathroom that will fit one 3’ x 16’-8” QuietWarmth 2-in-1 radiant heat film that is cut into one 3’ x 7’-8” system and one 3’ x 9’ system. Each 2-in-1 lead wire is 15’ in length, be sure to take this into account when planning your mat placement so that when they’re installed, the wires can reach the junction box.

After your measurements and planning are done, you can move onto the physical installation. Always ensure the subfloor is properly prepared to the floating floor manufacturer’s specifications. Next, install a compatible underlayment or barrier over the subfloor. When your underlayment is finished, cut your QuietWarmth 2-in-1 mat to the predetermined size, making sure to cut on the dotted black line within the clear space of the mat. DO NOT cut on the solid black lines. Cap off the silver bus bars at each cut end with the provided Kapton discs. Next, roll out each film over the top of the underlayment with the cold lead wires facing towards the run to the thermostat. Label the lead wires from each mat, then run them to the junction box. Ensure to record resistance readings often along each part of the installation.

Once in the junction box, wire the mat wires in parallel and then run a pigtail up to the thermostat. Next, run the thermostat floor temperature sensor from the thermostat and place it within 1” of the edge of the mat. Do not place the sensor under any part of the mat. Then, install the appropriate floating floor covering over the top of the entire system.
Enjoy the gentle heat of QuietWarmth with the simplicity of 2 mats in 1 box with QuietWarmth 2-in-1 radiant heat film.

*For Float and Tile mats using 120V, one thermostat controls up to 120 square feet of mats. When using 240V, one thermostat can control up to 240 square feet. *
